Kayne M. Smith was a Research Associate in professor M.Y. Hussaini's research group. She received her Ph.D. in mathematics from Duke University , her M.S. in mathematics from George Mason University, and her B.S. in geology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Her Research Interest Areas were:

• Molecular dynamics simulation of laser assisted particle removal;
• Blood flow regulation in the afferent arteriole;
• Solid hydrogen particles in liquid helium.
