Chunmei Xia was a Research Associate in professor M.Y. Hussaini's research group. She received her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Thermal Engineering from Tsinghua University, China.

Her Research Interest Areas were:

• Simulation of Forest Fire Combustion, and to incorporate the model into a numerical weather prediction model;
• CFD applications and methodologies in systems and processes involving fluid flow, heat/mass transfer and chemical reactions.
