M. Y. Hussaini is Professor of Mathematics, holder of the TMC Eminent Scholar Chair in High Performance
Computing, Affiliate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Computer Science. He helped set up
the School of Computational Science and Information Technology, for which he was awarded the honorary title of Founding
Director. Before coming to Florida State University in 1996, he was the Director of the Institute for Computer
Applications in Science and Engineering (ICASE) at the NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA. He received his Ph.D.
in engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1970, and his B.S. and M.S. degrees in mathematics and
physics from the University of Madras, India.
He has published over 200 articles, co-authored three books and edited or co-edited 20 volumes.
He is editor-in-chief of Theoretical and Computational Fluid Dynamics, editor of Applied Numerical Mathematics,
and of Computing in Science and Engineering. He is also an editor of the Springer-Verlag Series on Scientific
Computation and the Oxford Engineering Science Series. He is the associate editor of the WIT Press series on
Advances in Fluid Mechanics.
